Oil sketches and so forth

I've been re-introducing myself to oil painting. I started taking oil painting lessons at an early age and it will always be my first love. I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much, however, had I not also enjoyed drawing. Drawing is, in my opinion, the foundation for all painting. (We "paint" with our brushes!)

"Sad Tears," 6x6" oil on panel.

Quick oil study with limited palette. Approximately 6x6 inches. Face made up from my imagination.
"Joven" oil on Ampersand panel, 5x5". I do love doing these itty-bitty oil sketches for fun!

"Flowers in Her Hair" 6x6 inches, oil on panel. Reference used was an old B&W vintage public domain photo.

Intro Blog Post; some of my art. Yadda yadda

Unfinished figure sketch, drawn from life.
I've got other blogs (like on my home site) but thought it might be good to have a Blogger presence so I could comment on other blogs. Or something.

Here are some recent drawings I did at a life drawing session.

Quick profile sketch of model, done in pencil.
Seated model, from figure drawing session. Probably a 20-30 minute pose. In pencil.
I'm a big believer in figure drawing (drawing the posed model from life). You really stretch your drawing limits by drawing the human form, which is one of the hardest things to capture, especially in a quick pose from life.
